Food Sc*andal: Rat Poison Found in Baby Food, Alarm in Austria

Authorities in Austria have raised serious concerns over food safety after a jar of baby food was found to contain a toxic substance. The case first came to light following a customer complaint, while laboratory tests later confirmed the presence of poison in a product made with carrots and potatoes. As an urgent measure, the product has been withdrawn from several stores, with around 1,500 units believed to be affected. Investigations have also revealed issues with packaging, including damaged lids and missing safety seals, increasing suspicions of possible tampering. The incident is not limited to Austria.

Similar samples have been reported in Czech Republic and Slovakia, expanding the investigation internationally. The manufacturing company has stated that a potential external criminal interference in the distribution chain is being examined. Meanwhile, consumers are advised not to use the affected products and to return them to stores for a refund. The case has once again drawn attention to food safety standards across Europe, while further developments are expected as investigations continue.
