Bullet Successfully Removed from Lung in Advanced Surgery at UCCK

A successful and highly delicate medical procedure has been carried out at University Clinical Center of Kosovo, marking another step forward in modern surgical care in the country.

A 28-year-old male patient, who had been living with a retained bullet in the lower lobe of his left lung for nearly 10 months, has undergone a successful operation performed by the thoracic surgery team. The intervention was completed using the advanced VATS-Unipportal technique, a minimally invasive approach known for reducing trauma and speeding up recovery.

According to the medical staff, the foreign object was removed without complications, while preserving lung function. The procedure avoided major surgical risks and demonstrated the effectiveness of modern, less invasive methods in complex thoracic cases. The patient is currently reported to be in stable condition and continues to recover well after the operation. This case highlights the growing capabilities of local healthcare institutions in applying advanced surgical techniques, improving patient outcomes, and strengthening trust in public medical services.
